The After Hours Jazz Band is a big band comprised of musicians ages 25+. The band consists of up to 5 saxophones, 5 trumpets, 4 trombones, 1 bass trombone, drums, acoustic upright bass, guitar, piano, and solo vocalist. For the advanced high school or post secondary school musician. This polished group performs advanced music, much of which is at a professional level. After Hours is a band for adults who enjoy playing big band music. All are welcome. Must be able to read music notation.

Mike Malone has been a part of the Canadian jazz music scene since the early 1970’s and was a member of the full-time faculty of the music department at Mohawk College for 25 years beginning in 1986. Now retired from trumpet playing but still active as a composer/arranger, he has written for and performed with Nimmons ’N’ Nine Plus Six, The Ted Moses Quintet, The Dave McMurdo Jazz Orchestra, Ranee Lee, Ted’s Warren Commission, The Alex Dean Quintet, The Brass Connection II and the Kieran Overs Nonet. Over the years he was also active as a clinician for Yamaha Music Canada, coached Jazz ensembles at York University and directed the Jazz band at McMaster University.
