All Star Vocal Jazz


The All Star Jazz Vocal Jazz ensemble is the newest member of the HASJ family!  Performing both as an a cappella group as well as with rhythm section accompaniment, this group is perfect for the advanced high school or post secondary school musician.  This group will explore advanced and professional music in a cappella and accompanied settings.


Rehearses Thursdays 8:00-10:00 p.m.

About the Director

Megan Benjafield is a passionate educator whose teaching career spanned 25 years across three school boards. She has taught in the TLDSB, the TDSB and the HWDSB covering courses in jazz studies, contemporary music studies, voice, music theatre, strings, and band. Most notably, Megan spent over a decade on faculty at Etobicoke School of the Arts, where she led the

internationally award-winning vocal ensemble JAMME (the Jazz And Modern Music Ensemble). She has also been a sessional instructor at McMaster University.


Megan has a BMus, Violin Performance from Western University and a BEd from OISE/UT. In addition, Megan spent 2 years post-degree studying vocal jazz at Mohawk College and has done extensive professional development in both jazz and contemporary music studies.


Currently, Megan is proud to be the Education Manger at the HPO, the HPYO General Manager and Conductor of the HPYO Concert Orchestra.
